As temperatures rise, signaling the onset of summer, outdoor cinema events are on the horizon once again. For the sixth consecutive year, the Kimonos Arts Centre in Paphos is gearing up to host a series of film screenings at the Attikon open-air cinema. With a lineup of ten captivating films, this year’s program is set to offer cinephiles a rich cinematic journey delving into the intricate dynamics of power and madness.
According to the organizers, this curated selection of films, each hailed as a masterpiece, aims to provide a distinctive and stimulating platform for cinema aficionados to collectively explore the profound impacts of power struggles and the complexities of the human psyche.
The summer schedule will feature nine internationally acclaimed films alongside an award-winning Cypriot production. From June 27 to August 8, movie buffs can immerse themselves in a diverse range of cinematic experiences under the stars, commencing with the screening of the iconic 1972 masterpiece, The Godfather, starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, and James Caan.
On July 3, the lineup continues with V for Vendetta, followed by No Country for Old Men on July 5. The Great Dictator will grace the screen on July 10, succeeded by One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest on July 12 and The Silence of the Lambs on July 17.
The season unfolds further with The Death of Stalin on July 19, and Oldboy on August 2, representing the only Korean-language film to be showcased. August 7 brings a screening of American Psycho, exclusively for audiences aged 18 and above. Wrapping up the outdoor cinema nights is the Cypriot film Antio Koproskyla! on August 9, directed by Andreas Kyriacou.
