The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is set to conclude its summer season with a grand finale. This final concert promises to be a special occasion as it marks a collaboration between the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, directed by the renowned maestro and artistic director of the CyYSO, Yiorgos Kountouris.
A Night of Musical Synergy
On Friday, seasoned musicians of the orchestra will join forces with emerging young talents at the Skali Amphitheatre in Aglantzia. This event, named “Cyprophonia 5 Side-By-Side,” will spotlight the gifted young Cypriot pianist Anna Avramidou as the evening’s soloist. She is set to captivate the audience with a performance of George Gershwin’s enchanting Rhapsody in Blue. The 15-year-old pianist gained acclaim by winning the 6th World Competition for Young Pianists dedicated to Franz Liszt in 2023.
An Evening of Dual Excellence
In the latter half of the concert, both orchestras will unite to perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s brilliant Symphony No. 5, featuring Anna Avramidou on the piano. This performance not only serves as a fitting conclusion to the evening but also brings a season rich in musical experiences to a close.
