Outdoor Film Screenings by Larnaca Cinema Society
Every Monday and Wednesday, the Larnaca Cinema Society hosts open-air film screenings, showcasing an array of notable films. This summer, both local productions and international films will delight cinema enthusiasts at no cost. The screenings will be held at the Pierides Museum and various rural locations across Cyprus, expanding their reach to different communities. In July, the villages of Troulloi, Vavla, and Deryneia will host these cinematic events.
Upcoming Film Screenings
The Boy on the Bridge:
On June 26, the Cypriot film “The Boy on the Bridge” will be screened at Troulloi village’s central square. This film, originally shot in Kalopanagiotis, has been featured at numerous international film festivals. Now, it returns to Cyprus to be shown in its original Greek language with English subtitles.
Smuggling Hendrix:
Next month, on July 3, “Smuggling Hendrix” will be shown in the amphitheater of Vavla village. This award-winning social comedy will be presented with Greek subtitles, promising an entertaining night for cinephiles.
Rosemary:
“Rosemary,” directed by the acclaimed Adonis Florides, will be screened on July 10 at the Famagusta Avenue Garage in Deryneia. This venue will also host two additional film nights in July, featuring the comedy “The Grand Seduction” on July 17 and the Cypriot film “Five Shillings Nylon” on July 24.
Extended Film Nights
The Larnaca Cinema Society’s free film nights will continue not just through the summer but also into the autumn and winter months. Besides the screenings at the Pierides Museum and the Larnaca Municipal Museum, some events will be held on the beach in front of the Larnaca Medieval Castle, offering a unique cinematic experience by the sea.
