Limassol, Cyprus – In the latest development regarding an escalating family feud in Limassol, police have apprehended three additional individuals. This follows an initial incident that occurred on the evening of June 27, where a confrontation erupted involving two Syrian families in the Omonia area.
The altercation, involving over 50 individuals armed with crowbars, sticks, and stones, resulted in two injuries and extensive property damage, including six damaged vehicles. Reports indicate that the violence escalated dramatically, with a gas cylinder reportedly thrown from a fifth-floor window during the chaos.
Legal Proceedings and Injuries
Previously, authorities had already detained five individuals in connection with the incident, who were placed in custody for eight days starting last Saturday. The two injured parties, aged 43 and 26, received initial treatment at a private hospital and are currently under medical care.
Alleged Trigger and Investigation
The conflict allegedly stemmed from accusations of harassment involving a young woman, purportedly incited by a member of one of the involved families. Limassol CID continues to investigate the matter as tensions remain high in the community.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns over public safety and the need for swift legal intervention to address community disputes effectively.
