Lefkara village is already a popular destination, but every summer, the Lefkara Municipality adds an extra layer of excitement with a nine-day festival. This event transforms the heart of the village into a hub of live music, theatre, street food, arts and crafts, and charming village sightseeing.
Festival Dates and Highlights
From August 10 to 17 and on August 24, the 42nd edition of the Lefkara Festival promises to bring even more vibrancy to the village. Known for its charming agrotouristic stays, hotels, workshops, taverns, and cafés, Lefkara will be bustling with a variety of entertaining activities and performances this month.
Opening Ceremony
The festival kicks off on August 10 with an opening ceremony that features a concert dedicated to renowned Greek and Cypriot composers, performed by the Lefkara choir. Additionally, an exhibition showcasing embroidery and silversmithing will open on this day and run throughout the festival.
Activities and Performances
This year’s festival lineup includes a wide range of activities:
- Bridge Competition: On August 11 at 3pm.
- Local Theatre Performances: Various dates and times.
- Music and Dance Shows: Throughout the festival.
One of the key attractions is the Lefkara Street Food Festival on August 11, starting at 6pm. Held at the primary school’s courtyard, this event will feature street food vendors offering a variety of delicious bites, bringing together villagers, foodies, families, and visitors.
Special Events
- Kaseta Retro Event: On August 16, enjoy a concert by Constantinos Christoforou and ONE, along with DJs Anagiotos and Scoulos. While the festival is free, this particular event requires a ticket, which can be purchased in advance from soldoutticketbox.com.
- Outdoor Cinema: On August 17, an outdoor cinema will be set up at the school.
Closing Ceremony
The festival will conclude on August 24 with a charity event, wrapping up the festivities on a high note.
