This September, a significant two-day event will bring together young people from Cyprus and around the world. The EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at United World Colleges (UWC) is organizing the United for Peace EU-UWC Youth Leadership Forum in Nicosia on September 20 and 21, and the registration process is now open.
Empowering Youth for Peace and Leadership
The forum is designed to promote peace and leadership among young people, primarily those aged 14-18, both from Cyprus and internationally. The event seeks to amplify their voices as advocates for a more peaceful and sustainable world. Approximately 200 participants will gather, including Cypriot and international UWC students, staff, and alumni, as well as local high school students, educators, civil society partners, and other key stakeholders.
A Unique Educational Experience
Reflecting the United World Colleges’ educational model, this two-day forum will explore, challenge, and offer real-life experiences related to the role of youth, education, and the European Union in peacebuilding and changemaking. The event will serve as a platform for young people to develop their leadership abilities while gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities and significance of building a peaceful future.
Interactive and Engaging Sessions
Throughout the event, participants will engage in a rich program that includes keynote speeches, interactive workshops, youth-led sessions, and discussion panels. These sessions will not only educate but also inspire attendees to take an active role in promoting peace and sustainability.
Building Bridges Through International Perspectives
The EU-UWC partnership, which began in 2019, has already reached over 1,000 Cypriot young people, providing them with opportunities to engage in an intercommunal setting as a means of building confidence between Cypriot communities. Following the success of the EU Scholarship Programme for Cypriot Youth at UWC, this forum will bring even more international perspectives to Cyprus, enabling participants to connect with peers from different cultures and countries.
