This autumn, Nicosia will host the third edition of PianoFest, an event that promises to showcase the talents of four exceptional Cypriot pianists. Organized by Ledras Music Soloists, the festival is scheduled for November and is already shaping up to be a memorable occasion, despite being months away. The organizers are meticulously curating a multi-day program that will captivate audiences.
A Celebration of Musical Mastery
Four concerts will take place at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre, each featuring a distinguished local pianist. The organizers highlight the profound impact of music, stating, “As universal performing artists, music interpreters have always played the role of ambassadors for global artistic expression. Through their performances, they convey a wide array of meanings and messages that offer insights into the human experience. Music fosters mutual understanding, solidarity, empathy, and love, acting as a bridge between different cultures and peoples.”
They continue, “Compositions born from personal expression that once inspired spiritual growth now serve as symbols of hope for peaceful coexistence. Conversely, pieces initially intended to stir national pride have evolved into connections that promote familiarity and communication among diverse cultures. Many composers faced harsh criticism or persecution during their lifetimes because their powerful music was seen as a challenge to authority.”
Pianists to Watch
Orestis Magou will open the festival on November 7, followed by Nicolas Constantinou on November 12. Rami Sarieddine will grace the stage on November 20, and the festival will conclude with a performance by Eleni Mavromoustaki on November 28.
