This summer, rural Cyprus locations have come alive with vibrant events as cultural institutions, event organizers, and youth councils bring art, music, food, and cinema to the outskirts of the city. As August draws to a close, another exciting event is set to unfold.
Peristerona Youth Presents the 2nd Summer Cinema Night
Peristerona Youth is hosting its 2nd Summer Cinema Night, featuring two evenings of outdoor film screenings showcasing international cinema. On August 29 and 30, film enthusiasts are invited to the old OXEN Stadium (located next to the municipal kindergarten) for a series of captivating film presentations. Across these two nights, four films will be shown—three suitable for all ages and one designated for viewers aged 15 and above.
Film Lineup for August 29
The event kicks off on August 29 with the animated film Zootopia, which starts at 8 pm. This family-friendly film explores a city where animals strive for justice and work to uncover a dark conspiracy. Following at 10 pm is the Italian comedy L’Ora Legale, set in a Sicilian town on the eve of mayoral elections. The story follows an uptight professor who aims to eliminate illegal activities, leading to the closure of his relatives’ bar.
Film Lineup for August 30
On the second night, August 30, the evening begins with Disney’s acclaimed animation Coco, a film celebrating family bonds, breaking generational curses, and honoring Mexican traditions. The final film of the event will be the Spanish thriller-drama Contratiempo (The Invisible Guest), a gripping murder mystery filled with unexpected twists.
