As August draws to a close, a wide range of festivals and events are set to take place across towns and rural villages, offering plenty of opportunities to enjoy both seaside relaxation and cultural experiences. Here’s a look at what’s happening this weekend.
Pafos International Street Festival
Starting off the weekend is the first-ever Pafos International Street Festival, which runs until Sunday. Every evening from 7 pm onwards, various locations in Kato Paphos will host street performances. Artists from around the globe will present free live shows, bringing the vibrant energy of street art, busking, and circus acts to the heart of Paphos. Expect to see a variety of performers, including acrobats, magicians, rope walkers, jugglers, fire artists, comedians, and clowns. A special charity show featuring all participating artists will be held at the Mpania on Saturday at 10 pm, followed by a party with DJ Hadjimike.
SeptemberFest: The Beer Extravaganza
Another major event this weekend is SeptemberFest, one of the island’s largest beer festivals. It kicks off on Friday and continues until next Thursday at Akadimias Park. This marks the 13th edition of the festival, showcasing live performances by some of the most prominent names in the Greek music industry. In addition to the musical acts, festival-goers can enjoy a selection of over 100 beer brands and a wide array of street food options.
Zygi Fish Festival: A Taste of Tradition
For those looking for a more traditional experience, the coastal village of Zygi will host the 4th Fish Festival on Saturday. Taking place at the harbour, the event will feature local fishermen presenting the freshest catches of the day. A market will also be set up in the village square, offering local produce and goods. Throughout the afternoon and evening, attendees can enjoy live music performances and cooking demonstrations by local chefs.
MountainFest: Celebrating Youth and Culture
Up in the mountains, the Youth Board of Cyprus will host the inaugural MountainFest, a two-day event spread over two weekends. This Saturday, the festival will take place in Evrychou, with events moving to Agros the following Saturday. The program includes discussions with youth organizations and government ministers, performances by Cypriot artists, a marketplace, and interactive activities for all ages.
Windcraft Festival: Post-Festival Celebrations
Meanwhile, the Windcraft Festival will continue its celebrations with an extended post-festival event on Sunday in Katydata village. The evening will feature a concert by the Maly music group (Vassilis Philippou and Odysseas Toumazou) at Stavrinos Inn, starting at 7 pm. The duo will perform music inspired by Cypriot sounds and traditional songs. In addition to the free concert, visitors can explore a literature corner featuring works by Cypriot authors and the Sounds of Memory exhibition.
Cyberness Market: A Glimpse into the Future
For a more futuristic experience, head to Kolla in Limassol on Sunday for the Cyberness Market. From 5 pm to 11 pm, this large art market will showcase a variety of local creators, brands, DJs, installations, performers, and designers. The specially designed venue will transport visitors into a cyber-inspired world where technology meets art. If you can’t make it this time, the Cyberness Market will be held on the first Sunday of every month.
