Next week, the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Choir will collaborate with renowned Cypriot singer Alexia for an extraordinary concert at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.

This special event marks a significant milestone in Alexia’s career as she celebrates the 30th anniversary of her internationally acclaimed, multi-platinum album, Alexia Performs the Classics. She will be joined on stage by a variety of musicians, ranging from established professionals to rising stars. Performing alongside her will be the talented young musicians of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra’s choir, and select musicians from Alexia’s jazz band.

Celebrating the Golden Era of Greek Cinema and Jazz

The concert aims to revive the Golden Era of Greek Cinema and Greek Jazz spanning from the 1930s to the 1960s, with a musical journey that merges classic Big Band sounds with rich symphonic arrangements. The program will showcase songs known for their melody, harmony, and masterful orchestrations, blending nostalgia with timeless musical excellence.

Audiences can expect to hear classic tunes such as “An s’arnitho” by Mimis Plessas, “Tin Afto” by Takis Morakis, and “Echo Apopse Rendezvous” by George Mouzakis, among others. These songs, performed by Alexia with her distinctive voice and phrasing, alongside the talented youth of the CyYSO, will transport listeners back to a bygone era of musical splendor.
