The exhibition titled “nono, bad timing!”, currently taking place at NiMAC, delves into the processes of archiving queer temporalities and spaces. Running until November 9, the exhibition has expanded to include a series of activities and presentations curated by Evagoras Vanezis. These events aim to amplify queer voices while fostering a more inclusive approach to documenting queer histories.
Archiving Queer Histories
The project presents a comprehensive look at queer narratives, offering a dynamic and evolving record of experiences. It invites the audience to engage with the material through various mediums, creating a space where diverse queer histories are archived and celebrated.
The work of the guest archivists adds depth to the exhibition by addressing different perspectives on queer archival practices. These presentations, by resident and guest archivists, provide fresh insights into how queer identities are preserved and shared.
Upcoming Events
Several notable events are part of the program. On Thursday, Logan Bellew will present “Trash Your Gender”, exploring gender identities and expressions. Following that, on October 29, resident archivist Gabriel Koureas will join Stavros Karayiannis, Ibrahim Ince, and Cosmo Mo Rose in a discussion on queer archival practices, all conducted in English.
The discussions continue the next evening with Koureas, Irini Khenkin (from the Endrosia Collective), Christos Kyriakides, and Despina Michaelidou. Together, they will explore the intricate dynamics of queer archives.
On October 31, Gervaise Savvias will present a performative lecture titled “A/S/L: Queer Entanglements”, investigating the intersection between archival work and community building, highlighting how these archives contribute to the formation of queer spaces and histories.
Final Events and Closing Ceremony
As the exhibition enters its final stretch, Evagoras Vanezis, the curator, will host a roundtable discussion with the resident archivists, reflecting on the project’s impact and exploring the future of queer archiving practices. On November 9, the project will conclude with a closing event led by Evita Ioannou, examining the interplay between dramaturgy, performance, and archival encounters.
