Pharos Arts Foundation is set to light up Nicosia with three exceptional musical evenings this November, featuring local and international artists in a cozy setting. Taking place at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia’s historic center, these performances on November 13, 20, and 28 promise to bring audiences an intimate and enchanting musical experience.
Song Recital: Zoe Nicolaidou & Zbyněk Maruška
The first of these concerts, happening on November 13, features Cypriot soprano Zoe Nicolaidou alongside Czech pianist Zbyněk Maruška. A celebrated artist with performances at prestigious venues like the Opera National de Paris, Lincoln Center in New York, and Musikverein Wien, Nicolaidou returns to Cyprus as part of the Pharos Arts Foundation’s Cyprus Artists Series. This voice and piano recital will highlight the emotive beauty of Czech art songs and arias, showcasing works by Dvořák, Janáček, Smetana, and Sůk, alongside compositions by Massenet, Ravel, and Korngold. This performance is set to be a heartfelt exploration of lyrical and soulful music, bringing a blend of local talent and international artistry.
Goldmund Quartet: A World-Class Debut in Cyprus
On November 20, The Shoe Factory will host the highly regarded Goldmund Quartet, an ensemble that has quickly gained a reputation among the world’s top string quartets. Known for their “exquisite playing” and “multi-layered homogeneity,” these four young musicians are renowned for their dynamic interpretations of both classical and modern works. Making their Cyprus debut, the Goldmund Quartet will treat the Nicosia audience to an inspiring repertoire featuring works by Schumann, Borodin, and Gerald Finzi. This performance promises a refined musical journey through celebrated string quartet pieces, making it an unmissable event for classical music enthusiasts.
Emanuil Ivanov: An Extraordinary Piano Finale
The final concert of November, scheduled for November 28, brings pianist Emanuil Ivanov to Nicosia. Ivanov is an internationally acclaimed artist celebrated for his technical skill and deep interpretative talent. Known for his commitment to the lesser-known works of the piano repertoire, Ivanov has performed with many prestigious orchestras worldwide and regularly appears at major international music festivals. In collaboration with London’s Keyboard Charitable Trust, Pharos Arts Foundation presents this unique recital featuring works by Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Rachmaninov. Ivanov’s performance is anticipated to be a powerful conclusion to the November concert series, offering audiences an evening of rich musical depth.
