Larnaca invites you to experience its history and culture like never before through thematic walks organized as part of the Larnaka 2030 initiative. Five interdisciplinary walks, titled Pathkia Pathkia, will take participants on an engaging journey through the communities of the newly established Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou. The first walk kicks off in Pervolia this Saturday, offering a deep dive into the village’s identity and heritage.

Collaborating with local artists, residents, and community groups, the Pathkia Pathkia walks are designed to provide participants with a unique perspective of Pervolia. Through residents’ narrations and artistic performances, visitors will explore the historical landmarks, cultural structures, and the community’s traditions. Personal stories and memories will unveil hidden aspects of life in the area, from forgotten events to the rich cultural tapestry that defines the village.
This program brings Pervolia’s history to life, showcasing its evolution from infrastructure development to the transformations that have shaped its modern social landscape. Beyond just learning, participants are encouraged to reflect on and envision the future of this charming community.
What to Expect on the Walk
The walk will begin at the Pervolia Community Stadium at 11:45 am and last approximately 75 minutes, featuring several interactive stops:
- Unveiling the Village Name: Discover the origins of Pervolia’s name and learn about its renowned crops.
- Celebrating Community Women: Hear the inspiring story of Mrs. Loula, one of the first women to serve in a Cypriot community council.
- Tasting Traditions: Enjoy a delightful taste of mahaleppi and listen to a local actor recount the history of the iconic lighthouse.
- Interactive Experiences: Participants will visit the new theatre and the Pervolia Church, where they can engage in creative activities like painting, collage-making, and brainstorming ideas for the community’s future.
