Art enthusiasts, this is your moment to revel! Join us as the AG Leventis Gallery commemorates its 10th anniversary with an evening that seamlessly merges the realms of art and theatre.
In collaboration with Alpha Square, we present a captivating night filled with theatrical performances inspired by renowned artists such as Rothko, Waxman, Bacon, Freud, Picasso, and Da Vinci. Moreover, our event on May 17 also honors International Museum Day 2024, taking place on May 18.
On Friday, May 17, gallery patrons will witness excerpts from theatrical productions that have graced our stages over the past decade, each centered around artistic themes. Prepare to be transported into the worlds of iconic painters and pioneering figures who revolutionized the art scene of their eras: from Mark Rothko’s “Red” to Jonathan Waxman’s “The Invisible Side,” from the dynamic duos Bacon\Freud to Picasso’s enigmatic portrayal in “A Picasso,” and finally, the English-language adaptation “A Portrait for Mona Lisa” featuring Leonardo Da Vinci.
Talented actors Varnavas Kyriazis and Andreas Araouzos will animate these plays, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a one-of-a-kind evening of theatre, art, and culture, right here on the ground floor of the gallery.
But the celebration doesn’t end there! Throughout May, AG Leventis Gallery will host a series of events in honor of International Museum Day. On May 16, music aficionados are invited to a special musical performance as part of the temporary exhibition “1, 2, 3… Paint!” featuring Barking Cats Radio Station, an independent online radio and collective dedicated to the global underground electronic scene. DJ Billy D will be spinning minimalist electronic tracks and more from 7:30 pm to 10 pm.
On May 18, we will partner with APAC Labs to showcase the groundbreaking potential of new technologies in the study and analysis of artworks. Delve into presentations and workshops focusing on 2D and 3D documentation, analysis, processing, and visualization of art and cultural heritage objects from our collections. Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to discover these innovative methods firsthand and engage with expert researchers from the Cyprus Institute’s (CyI) laboratories.
Join us for these enriching experiences at AG Leventis Gallery, where art, culture, and innovation converge to inspire and enlighten. Mark your calendars and don’t miss out!
