A new artistic event enriches the cultural landscape of the capital city this week with the opening of a compelling exhibition at Kastelliotissa Hall. Entitled “Eutopia,” the showcase by Katina Kosta will feature a collection of artworks from June 15 to June 29, commencing with an inaugural ceremony at 8pm.
Discussing the exhibition’s central theme, organizers elaborate, “Eutopia embodies a vision of a harmonious global community grounded in respect and solidarity. Unlike the idealized and unattainable utopia, eutopia represents an achievable and desirable societal ideal.”
The artist approached the creation of these artworks through a process akin to catharsis, drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as the mandala, magic carpet, prayer rug, and the improvisational style of Abstract Expressionism, as well as ecclesiastical motifs.
According to the organizers, the artworks serve as metaphorical “magic carpets” inviting viewers into a realm of eutopia—a simultaneously familiar and secure haven. They aim to evoke reflection on the allegorical significance embedded in the tradition of kollyva, a shared human experience that enhances collective understanding of transcendental concepts.
