During the height of Ayia Napa’s tourist season, a unique festival brings a traditional touch to the bustling town. Moving away from the usual party atmosphere, this event celebrates Cypriot traditions, local flavours, and handicrafts. The 6th Ayia Napa Festival of Traditional Flavours is scheduled for August 9, 10, and 11, featuring a diverse program of events.
Festival Highlights and Opening Ceremony
Located at the Ayia Napa central square, the festival will commence on Friday at 8pm with an official opening ceremony led by Ayia Napa Mayor Christos Zannettou and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Andreas Gregoriou. Following the inauguration, a live music concert will entertain attendees as the festival’s kiosks and stands open, inviting visitors to explore and enjoy local produce and crafts. Traditional Cypriot handicrafts such as knife-making, chair-weaving, and basket-weaving will be showcased, offering an authentic taste of the island’s cultural heritage.
Three Days of Cultural Celebrations
Throughout the festival’s three-day duration, attendees can partake in tastings and exhibitions, with a daily artistic program providing entertainment through music, song, and dance. Additionally, educational programs for children and an arts exhibition by Andrea Charalambides and Andreas Ioannides will be available, enriching the festival experience in the heart of Ayia Napa, a vibrant summer destination.
