The temporary exhibition, “Three Photographic Trails – Nicosia: People and Places,” is currently showcasing its second part, with three parts in total. This segment focuses on photographic material from the 1950s to the early 1960s. The exhibition provides a visual archive illustrating how Nicosia began its transformation into a modern European city, influenced by new urban models. This era, marked by significant political events, drew many photographers and journalists to Cyprus, eager to document the island’s dynamic changes and its people. Part 2 of the exhibition is open daily, except Mondays, until August 25, from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
Guided Exhibition Tour
To delve deeper into the history of Nicosia and understand how photographers of the era captured its evolving architecture and lifestyle, the museum is offering a guided tour on July 11 at 6 pm. This tour will be led by the exhibition’s curators, Tzeni Lymperopoulou Savvidou, Director of the Leventis Municipal Museum, and Maria Patsalosavvi, the museum’s Deputy Director. The tour, conducted in Greek, is free of charge and provides insightful perspectives on the exhibited photographs.
Engaging Workshops for Young Visitors
For the younger audience, the museum has organized a creative workshop on July 19. Aimed at children aged 6 to 12, this workshop allows them to explore Nicosia’s rich history through the museum’s collections and storytelling. Kids will discover intriguing facts about the capital, such as its ancient connection to the seabed.
