This October, the vibrant sounds of Cuban music are set to fill the air of Cyprus’ capital, Nicosia, as part of the highly anticipated Nicosia International Festival. The renowned 13-member band Maykel Blanco Y Su Salsa Mayor, led by the talented Maykel Blanco, will deliver an electrifying performance at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on October 23, promising an unforgettable evening of lively Latin beats.
A Return to Cuban Rhythms
Two years after the Nicosia Municipal Theatre was packed with enthusiastic audiences dancing to the Cuban rhythms of Septeto Santiaguero, the island welcomes yet another Cuban musical sensation. This time, Maykel Blanco and his dynamic ensemble, Maykel Blanco Y Su Salsa Mayor, will take the stage to captivate the crowd with their irresistible melodies.

Maykel Blanco’s passion for music was ignited at an early age, growing up surrounded by family members who were part of the well-known troupe Los Guaracheros de Regla. His journey as a professional musician has been marked by numerous hit compositions, many of which have topped national and international radio and television charts. His tours have taken him across continents, including Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America— and now, once again, to Cyprus.
Though this will be Maykel’s second time performing on the island, his previous visit was during Paphos’ tenure as the European Capital of Culture in 2017. This time, he is set to mesmerize audiences in Nicosia with his captivating rhythms, guaranteed to get feet tapping and hips swaying.
