As December approaches, music enthusiasts are gearing up for three days filled with world music and cultural celebration. The 11th Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase is set to take place at Rialto Theatre in Limassol from December 6 to 8, featuring 14 bands and over 60 musicians. This vibrant event promises an eclectic mix of tunes and rhythms, welcoming both local talents and international festival organizers.

A Musical Extravaganza

The showcase will present ten bands debuting new works, with an additional four bands performing at parallel events near the theatre. Friday evening’s lineup, starting at 7pm, will feature performances by Mr Wilson, The Gandalfinis, Numina, and Krúe at the Rialto Theatre. Simultaneously, the parallel events will include performances by the Burek duo and Sis I Cracked My Head Open, concluding with a lively jam session that will mark the end of each evening.

On Saturday evening, audiences can enjoy performances by the Michalis Kouloumis Quartet, Ioanna Troullidou, Ermis Michail Quartet, and The Kicker Band. Complementary performances by Ogmios and the Alexandros Adam Quartet will take place in the nearby parallel events.

The event will culminate on Sunday evening with performances by Nabuma and the MorFarm Big Band Co., followed by another improvised jam session, closing the 2024 edition of the showcase.

Fostering Global Connections

This annual event goes beyond just music. It’s a platform for international collaboration and artist exchange. Foreign festival organizers and music professionals are invited to explore the Cypriot music scene, with the ultimate goal of showcasing local talent on international stages. Such initiatives aim to provide Cypriot musicians with global exposure while encouraging the exchange of artistic ideas and practices.
