The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for an exhilarating series of concerts to close out their artistic season. After a successful run of sold-out performances in April 2024, the orchestra is charging ahead with a dynamic lineup for May and June before a brief summer hiatus.
The upcoming events kick off with the final installment of the CySO International Conducting Masterclass and Competition. On May 24, ten promising young conductors will take the stage at the Strovolos Municipal Theatre to lead pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, and Mahler, following a rigorous five-day training with acclaimed conductor Michalis Economou and the CySO.
Continuing their commitment to community engagement, the CySO will present a series of free concerts at various venues including the American Medical Centre, Central Prisons of Nicosia, and the Tala Amphitheatre in Paphos. These performances, conducted by the talented newcomer Andreas Asiikkis, mark his debut with the CySO.
June promises a showcase of young talent with the annual concert of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra Academy and SymphoPedia. On June 3, the Academy scholars will display their skills in Nicosia, while the SymphoPedia ensembles and choir will deliver an exciting program in their annual concert.
The Starlight series will feature acclaimed pianist Anna Fedorova collaborating with the orchestra in two breathtaking performances at Skali Amphitheatre and Curium Ancient Amphitheatre on June 6 and 7 respectively.
The orchestra will then join forces with Telethon for an electrifying Latin jazz fundraising concert on June 13 in Nicosia.
Closing the season with a grand finale, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra will unite with the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra for a highly anticipated side-by-side concert on June 28 in Nicosia, led by the esteemed maestro and artistic director Yiorgos Kountouris.
