Explore Art Beyond Boundaries
This Sunday, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation invites young teens and adults to an engaging interactive art workshop in English. As part of the Moments at the Museum 24 series, the workshop titled “De-mapping the Familiar: A Journey Beyond Boundaries” aims to inspire creativity and encourage participants to see the world through a new lens.
Where Creativity Meets Art Movements
Hosted at the foundation’s Georgios and Nefeli Tziapra Pierides Archaeological Museum, the workshop begins at 11:00 AM and offers a unique blend of surrealism and cubism with hands-on creative techniques. Participants will delve into these revolutionary art movements, exploring their essence and the works of iconic artists who redefined artistic expression.
Transforming the Familiar into the Fantastic
Organizers share that the workshop is designed to take participants on a transformative journey, helping them discover how art can reshape the familiar into something extraordinary. The session kicks off with an interactive introduction to surrealist and cubist art, unpacking the groundbreaking contributions of these movements.
Following this, attendees will engage in a creative exercise, reimagining the map of Cyprus using collage and painting. “This process challenges conventional perceptions, merging reality with imagination and unlocking new pathways for creativity,” explain the organizers. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have crafted their own artwork, which will be showcased in a mini-exhibition.
