Limassol is gearing up for a lively weekend of laughter, as the Stantar Kkomety Festival returns for its second edition, featuring three days packed with stand-up comedy shows, workshops, and parties. From September 13 to 15, Heroes’ Square and the Rialto Theatre will host this celebration of humor, with fresh additions such as special performances for children and shows in English. This year, the festival is set to welcome internationally acclaimed English-speaking comedians, while still maintaining its Cypriot roots with local comedians performing in the traditional dialect.
Opening Night: Comedy Under the Stars
The festival kicks off on Friday evening with an Open Mic contest at 7pm in Heroes’ Square, hosted by Pavlos Pavlides. Following this, the Stantar Kkomety show at 9pm will be the only English-speaking event of the festival, featuring top comedians like Elena Gabrielle and Giorgos Kyriacou, with Pedja Pajovic as the presenter. Peter Kypri and Alexis Poullitas will also perform. To conclude the first night, an outdoor after-party with DJ Ariadne will keep the energy going.
Day Two: Comedy Workshops and Greek Performances
Saturday promises a full day of events, starting at 2pm with a stand-up comedy workshop. Later, performances by local comedians will fill Heroes’ Square in Greek, including an improv session. The evening will feature another Stantar Kkomety show, this time in Greek, with well-known Cypriot comedians like Champis Damianou, Marilena Zodiatou, Zacharias Zannetou, and Elias Andreou. Hosted by Constantinos Psillides, the show will lead into another after-party, this time with DJ Alejjios, creating the perfect setting to mingle with the comedians and festival attendees.
Final Day: Comedy for All Ages
The festival wraps up on Sunday with a special focus on kids, featuring a stand-up show for children by Kostas Pringipas at Sto Dromo bar at 11am, tailored for ages six to ten. This will be followed by an adult workshop at 2pm. The final performances will start at 6:15pm, with the Underdogs performing in Heroes’ Square, before the highly anticipated Comedy Battle at Rialto at 8pm, hosted by Louis Patsalides. The festival concludes with a Raw Comedy show at 10pm, bringing even more comedians to the stage for a hilarious finale.
