For the fifth consecutive year, the Goethe-Institut Cyprus is delighted to announce the return of Sommerkino, showcasing a curated selection of German films. This year, Sommerkino shifts its focus from directors to highlight the talent of renowned actress Sandra Hüller.
A Tribute to Sandra Hüller
From June 30 to July 4, the Goethe-Institut’s Nicosia center will transform its garden into an enchanting outdoor cinema, complete with lounge chairs, a large screen, and the iconic Ledra Palace as a picturesque backdrop. Sandra Hüller, celebrated for her remarkable versatility on screen, takes center stage in this year’s lineup.
Describing Hüller’s impact, organizers express, “Sandra Hüller stands as a distinguished figure in German cinema, acclaimed for her compelling performances.” Her accolades include the 2024 Best Actress award from the National Society of Film Critics for her roles in “Anatomy of a Fall” and “The Zone of Interest.” Notably, her portrayal in “Anatomy of a Fall” earned her a César Award, alongside nominations for a Golden Globe and an Oscar. Films such as “Toni Erdmann” and “In the Aisles” have solidified her reputation as one of Germany’s finest actresses.
