As part of the European Mobility Week celebrations, the Aradippou Municipality is hosting a group cycling event aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation and increasing environmental awareness. The Youth and Sports Committee of Aradippou has planned several activities this year to encourage sustainable mobility practices within the community, with the first event being a group cycling ride under the banner Cycling in Aradippou Municipality, scheduled for Sunday.
The ride will commence at 8am from Troulloi’s central square, passing through the scenic route of Kellia, and concluding at Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in Aradippou. The entire ride will cover a total distance of 12.6km. Later in the day, a children’s cycling race will take place at Ammochostos Park, running from 5pm to 7pm, where young cyclists will be invited to participate and enjoy the event.
In addition to the cycling activities, an educational session on road safety and traffic will be held on Friday at the parking area opposite the Municipal Hall. This event, running from 8am to 12:30pm, will focus on teaching final-year primary school students about road safety. The event aligns with the goal of fostering sustainable mobility and working toward a greener, cleaner environment for Aradippou.
According to Nikolas Karoulas, President of the Youth and Sports Committee, “For the third year in a row, our municipality is proud to join the European Mobility Week. This year, we are participating in the Car-Free Day initiative, where roads will be closed to motor vehicles, allowing residents to freely walk, cycle, and explore public transport. We’re creating a safe, vehicle-free space for families and children to enjoy outdoor activities and uninterrupted play.”
