What Do We Need
Dotmatics is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our global Product Ops team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge to help improve our processes, infrastructure and security by applying best practices with the latest technologies.
The Product Ops team develops and maintains a variety of shared services and infrastructure across the company, including marketing websites (e.g. Dotmatics.com, GraphPad.com, SnapGene.com, Geneious.com, LabArchives.com), e-commerce and billing systems, software licensing systems, data integrations, APIs, and GraphPad Prism Cloud. Additionally, we work in close partnership with various product-specific engineering teams to provide support and enable systems integrations. Our stack is composed of best-in-class technologies including AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Bitbucket Pipelines, Pulumi, Grafana, Sentry and more.
In this role you will get to:
- Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to address needs
- Create and document infrastructure as code with Pulumi
- Help implement best-practices for our AWS infrastructure
- Build and maintain deployment pipelines and associated operations
- Manage existing infrastructure in production and development environments
- Perform load testing and recommend improvements for engineering
- Monitor critical systems for uptime, performance and security
- Troubleshoot and resolve reliability issues in production
- Help us learn and adopt DevSecOps practices with the team
- Identify issues and opportunities to improve our security posture
- Implement observability, endpoint protection and incident response systems
- Assist with penetration tests and issue remediation
- Upgrade and improve overall architecture for scale and security
- Implement backup and disaster recovery plans and testing recovery periodically
We are looking for people who have 4+ years experience with high traffic applications and complex technical infrastructure. You will be someone with a proven background in supporting cloud environments, with hands on experience translating AWS well-architected principles into action.

- AWS (EKS, ALB, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Route53, etc)
- Infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Javascript/Typescript
- Docker, Kubernetes, Nginx and Apache
- CI/CD pipelines (e.g. BitBucket Pipelines)
- APMs and logging (e.g. Sentry, DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki)
- Scripting languages (e.g. bash, Python)
- Linux administration and networking (e.g. HTTP/2)
- Microservice and serverless architectures
- Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
You may also have
- AWS certifications or similar credentials
- EPP and EDR solutions (e.g. CrowdStrike, SentinelOne)
- Enterprise IT security standards (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC2)
- Prior work experience in company handling sensitive customer data
