We are seeking an experienced Game Economy Designer to shape and oversee the in-game economy for our casual games. You will be responsible for designing, balancing, and optimizing game economies, ensuring a rewarding experience for players while aligning with the game’s monetization strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of casual game dynamics, player psychology, and monetization models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Balance In-Game Economy: Develop and manage the in-game economy, including currencies, resources, rewards, and other game assets.
- Player Progression Systems: Create compelling player progression systems that encourage engagement, retention, and monetization without compromising player experience.
- Monetization Strategy Integration: Work closely with the product team to align economy design with monetization strategies, including in-app purchases and ad revenue systems.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Analyze player behavior, transaction data, and economy trends to optimize the economy’s performance and adjust balance as needed.
- Content Pricing & Rewards: Set pricing models for in-game items and content, ensuring fairness and value perception while driving profitability.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with game designers, product managers, data analysts, and developers to integrate the economy seamlessly into the overall game design.
- A/B Testing & Iteration: Conduct A/B tests on various economic aspects of the game to determine the most effective approaches and iterate based on data insights.
- User Segmentation: Design tailored economic experiences for different player segments to boost engagement and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Experience with Casual Games: Proven experience designing economies for casual games, with a portfolio of previous titles showcasing your ability to balance engagement and monetization.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret large datasets and player behavior to optimize the game’s economy and make informed design decisions.
- Understanding of Player Psychology: Deep knowledge of player motivation, spending habits, and progression to craft economies that drive engagement and monetization.
- Monetization Experience: Familiarity with various monetization models including free-to-play, microtransactions, ad-supported games, etc.
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with multiple departments to bring the game’s economy to life.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with live service games and knowledge of designing economies for games with regular content updates.
- Familiarity with tools and software used in economy modeling and data analysis.
- AI Knowledge: Understanding of AI and its potential applications in optimizing game economies, such as predictive analytics for player behavior, personalized experiences, dynamic pricing, or adaptive in-game content to enhance engagement and monetization.
