For those in search of a weekly fix of swing, blues, and jazz, there’s one jazz bar that stands out. Following a brief summer break, Sarah’s Jazz & Blues Club in old Nicosia is set to reopen, kicking off the new season with two special events on September 6 and 7.
New Season Opening Weekend
To start the season, the club will host the Steppin’ Out Jazz Band for a live performance on Friday, September 6. The band will take the audience on a nostalgic journey through the jazz era of the 1920s to 1950s, playing classics from the American Jazz Songbook. Joining them for the evening will be special guest saxophonist Charis Ioannou. The ensemble features Alice Ayvazian on vocals, Dimitris Miaris on piano, Costas Challoumas on double bass, and Marios Spyrou on drums.
More Jazz on Saturday Night
The jazz celebration continues on Saturday, September 7, with a performance by the Workin’ Trio. Featuring Charis Ioannou on saxophone, Christos Yerolatsitis on organ, and Marios Spyrou on drums, the trio will bring their dynamic mix of swing rhythms from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Their set will also incorporate elements of Gospel, New Orleans, and Boogaloo styles, along with original compositions.
