As September rolls in, it doesn’t just signal the start of the academic year but also a fresh wave of cultural events. Music lovers can expect a series of concerts, gigs, recitals, and shows in the coming weeks, with several performances happening this weekend.
Blues and Indie Sounds in Limassol
On Saturday evening, the Poe Bar in Limassol will host local artist Nikolis Christodoulou, who will fill the venue with a blend of blues, indie, and alternative music. Armed with his guitar, Nikolis will take the stage at 8:30 pm, and the best part? Free entry makes it a must-attend for live music lovers.
Jazz Takes Over Nicosia
If you’re in the mood for some jazz, Sarah’s Jazz Club in Nicosia is the place to be on Saturday night. Marios Toumbas and the Ioannis Vafeas Trio are set to perform, bringing the energy of their long-time collaboration to the stage. Both Toumbas, a pianist, and Vafeas, a drummer, rekindle memories of their time at Berklee College of Music in Boston. After recently performing at the 15th Tinos Jazz Festival in Greece, they’re returning to Cyprus with a show featuring music from Vafeas’ two albums, plus original jazz arrangements and compositions. Joining them will be bassist Greg Makamian, another seasoned performer who just returned from Canada.
Fusion Music in Paphos
For a more eclectic experience, head to Technopolis 20 in Paphos on Sunday evening, where the Pulsar Band will take you on a musical journey. The four-member ensemble, featuring Maria Avraam, Konstantinos Charilaou, Christos Politis, and Stavros Savva, blends ethnic, folk, and rock genres. Their unique style incorporates traditional instruments, electronic elements, and three-dimensional sound effects, creating a dynamic soundscape. Expect a mix of original compositions and reinterpreted traditional songs, all delivered in their distinctive style.
Bon Jovi Tribute in Limassol
Looking ahead, Limassol’s nightlife will be buzzing on Tuesday with the Blaze of Glory event, a top-tier Bon Jovi tribute show. The Blaze of Glory band will bring the energy of classic rock hits like “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “You Give Love a Bad Name,” and “Wanted Dead or Alive” to Kiklos Mousiki, offering a fiery, unforgettable night of rock music.
