Jazz aficionados, get ready to celebrate as the much-loved Paradise Jazz Festival returns for its 24th edition. Scheduled for late August, this annual event will gather music enthusiasts, renowned local jazz musicians, and international guest artists at Val’s Place in the picturesque village of Gialia.
A Cultural Highlight in Paphos
This festival, a staple in the Paphos district, delights culture lovers and attracts crowds to one of the island’s most beautiful areas. This year’s event, spanning August 23 and 24, will feature six performances and two jam sessions over its two-day duration.
Opening Night Performances
On Friday, August 23, the festival will begin with a performance by Athens-based organ player George Kontrafouris and his Baby Trio. Following them, Small Talented Hands-On Piano featuring Andrei Voronetskii and Dafni Koulas will take the stage.
The evening’s main attraction will be the world-renowned American keyboardist David Garfield. This versatile musician, visiting Cyprus specifically for the festival, will share the stage with some of Cyprus’ finest jazz talents for a unique and memorable performance.
Saturday’s Dynamic Line-Up
Saturday’s schedule kicks off with the powerful Working Quartet, who will present the music of legendary pianist Bud Powell. After their set, classical music pianist Manolis Neophytou will offer a brief interlude, performing solo pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Dmitrii Shostakovich, and more.
The highlight of Saturday night will be The Boston Reunion, an unexpected gathering of old friends and musicians from Cyprus and America, featuring Amos Hoffman. True to the festival’s spirit, the event will conclude with a spontaneous jam session.
