As we welcome the month of October, Paphos is ready to entertain music lovers with a variety of live music events, concerts, and performances. From classical recitals to intimate jazz sessions, both local and international artists will grace the cultural venues and concert halls of Paphos with their enchanting melodies.
Classical Music at Markideion Theatre
Kicking off the musical festivities this Friday is a performance by the internationally acclaimed violinist Domenico Nordio and the celebrated pianist Mikhail Lidsky. Their concert, part of the Technopolis 20 Classics series, will be hosted at Markideion Theatre. The programme will feature a rich selection of classical pieces, including Respighi’s Four Pieces, Paganini and Szymanowski’s Capricci, Dallapiccola’s Tartiniana Seconda, and Busoni’s Sonata Op. 36a. This promises to be a mesmerizing event for classical music enthusiasts.
Strings in Harmony: Violin and Cello Duet
On October 9, another unmissable event will take place at Technopolis 20. This time, the spotlight will be on a captivating violin and cello performance. Titled Reflections from Vivaldi to Ravel, the concert will feature violinist Olivera Rialas and cellist Dusan Stojanovic, offering a rich repertoire inspired by Ravel’s Miroirs (Reflections). The programme will traverse a musical journey from Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel to contemporary composers such as Xenakis, Vujic, and Ravel.
An Intimate Jazz Evening
For those who enjoy the warm, soulful sounds of jazz, an intimate performance awaits on Wednesday at O Linos in Ineia village. Vocalist Chara Miller and guitarist Emilios Patsalides will host a cozy evening for just 30 guests, delivering a unique blend of jazz and swing standards, along with reinterpretations from various genres. Held in the relaxing ambiance of a vegan restaurant, the night promises to be a memorable experience for jazz aficionados.
Looking Ahead: Marimba Magic in November
While October is packed with music events, November will bring another exceptional performance. On November 5, Dona Amyrotou will take to the stage at Technopolis 20 to showcase the enchanting world of the marimba, a unique percussion instrument. The performance, dubbed Marimba Jukebox, will feature an eclectic selection of compositions from around the globe, blending various styles and genres. This is a rare opportunity for audiences to explore the dynamic and vibrant sounds of the marimba.
