This August, the inaugural MountainFest will light up the island’s mountainous regions with a celebration of culture and entertainment beneath the summer stars. Organized by the Youth Board of Cyprus, this two-day festival is part of the National Year of Youth and is supported by local mountain communities, aiming to bring a wealth of enjoyment to Cyprus’s young people.
Festival Details and Locations
The 1st MountainFest will unfold over two nights in distinct locations. The festival kicks off at the Regional Primary School of Evrychou on August 31, followed by a second night at Kaoura Square in Agros on September 7.
Event Highlights
Both evenings will feature live music performances by emerging Cypriot artists, a variety of local food and delicacies, and an array of creative and interactive activities — all offered free of charge. Attendees can also explore several youth organizations focused on the environment, local youth groups showcasing their initiatives, and useful agencies for young people, including the Mobile Makerspace technology unit and various programs from the Youth Organization.
Interactive Discussions
The festival will include open discussions. In Evrychou, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades and Charalambos Christofinas, Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities, will address road network issues in the mountainous areas. At the Agros event, Vafeades will continue the conversation with more young people.
Entertainment
To round off each evening, the Alaloum band will perform, adding a lively finish to the festival nights.
