As summer draws to a close, the art scene in Paphos is set to come alive once again. A collaborative effort between Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort and Psifida Art Gallery will bring the work of renowned local artist Christos Foukaras to the forefront with an exhibition titled Close to Nature. This event will open on the last day of August and will be on display at the Paphos resort until September 22.
Christos Foukaras: A Celebrated Cypriot Artist
Christos Foukaras is widely regarded as one of Cyprus’ most accomplished artists. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and can be found in both public collections and private spaces. This summer, Foukaras returns to his hometown of Paphos to showcase a new collection of his art.
According to the exhibition organizers, “Christos Foukaras’ work is a lifelong journey of refining his ability to convey artistic, philosophical, and political themes through a rich and dynamic visual language. His art draws inspiration from everyday life, the history, the myths, and the natural beauty of Cyprus. While Foukaras has explored a variety of themes throughout his career, his compositions remain pure and harmonious, enriched with vibrant colors that bring life to his simple, yet structured forms.”
Opening Event
The opening event for the exhibition will feature a special speech by the esteemed Cypriot printmaker Hambis Tsangaris, who will discuss Foukaras and his artistic contributions.
