The highly anticipated Technopolis 20 Classics concert series returns, kicking off its new season with an extraordinary solo piano performance by the distinguished Russian pianist Igor Andreev. Igor Andreev, a highly respected pianist known for his remarkable talent and profound musicality, will grace the stage in Paphos. His outstanding skills have been acknowledged through various prestigious awards at major international piano competitions. According to event organizers, “His accolades include honors from the Concours de Genève in Switzerland, the UNISA competition in South Africa, and the Hamamatsu competition in Japan.”
A defining moment in his career occurred when he won the prestigious 2018 Rina Sala Gallo competition in Monza, Italy, where Maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy chaired the jury. This significant achievement propelled him to international fame, resulting in numerous concert invitations and establishing him as a leading figure in classical music.
A Diverse and Rich Repertoire
The concert’s Friday program promises a wide range of compositions. Andreev will begin with works by Alexander Scriabin, showcasing three of the composer’s notable piano sonatas. The performance will then shift to pieces by Franz Liszt, featuring his transcriptions of songs from Schubert’s Schwanengesang and selections from his Grandes études de Paganini, which are celebrated for their technical mastery and virtuosic demands.
