As part of Nicosia’s bid for the European Capital of Culture 2030, the Nicosia International Festival 2024 is focusing on engaging children in the city’s cultural activities. A central feature of this effort is the theatrical co-creation workshop Exploring the Theatre, which is supported by the Leventis Municipal Museum.
Five-Day Theatrical Workshop
Beginning on August 26, the workshop will invite children aged 9 to 12 to participate in a five-day journey at the Leventis Museum. The young participants will explore both permanent and temporary exhibitions, learning about the rich history of Nicosia. Immersed in the museum’s collections, they will start to craft their own play inspired by the city’s past.
Hands-On Theatre Experience
From August 27 to 30, the children will transition to the Nicosia Municipal Theatre. Here, they will collaborate with theatre professionals, gaining insights into the various roles involved in staging a play. They will continue to develop their play, directing it themselves, designing the lighting, and bringing their creation to life on stage. Additionally, they will compose their own music and lyrics and design a poster for their performance. The workshop promises a blend of fun and educational theatre games.
