The 5th edition of the Cyprus LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, known as Queer Wave, is gearing up to unite the island’s communities once again with a series of film screenings and accompanying events. The festival, hosted at NiMAC, has confirmed its dates for this year: mark your calendars for September 20 to 29.
According to an official announcement, the festival will return to Nicosia for its 5th consecutive year, this time taking place at NiMAC, an iconic space for Cypriot culture. Queer Wave aims to provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ experiences and expressions, both local and international, through its ten-day lineup of screenings and parallel events.
While the festival’s specific program and special events have yet to be revealed, interested individuals can stay informed through the festival’s website and social media channels (@queerwavecyprus). Despite being only four years old, Queer Wave has already introduced over 170 Cypriot premieres of LGBTQIA+ films from around the world to local audiences, supporting the works of filmmakers and artists from Cyprus in the process.
Organized by the non-profit company Queer Wave LTD and sponsored by the Deputy Ministry of Culture, this upcoming edition promises to be as engaging, inclusive, and thought-provoking as its predecessors.
