Today, Spotify unveiled a new Basic subscription plan priced at $10.99 per month, designed for users who prioritize music streaming without audiobook access. This new option offers a discounted rate compared to Spotify’s standard Premium Individual plan, which includes both ad-free music playback and 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening from a vast catalog of over 250,000 titles.
Previously, Spotify’s lowest-tier plan automatically included audiobook privileges, but now users can opt for the Basic plan to enjoy ad-free music at the previous $10.99/month rate. This move aligns Spotify’s pricing with competitors like Apple Music, eliminating the previous $1 premium over Apple’s base subscription cost.
It’s important to note that Spotify’s other subscription tiers remain unchanged: Duo continues at $16.99/month, and Family remains priced at $19.99/month. Additionally, Spotify still offers a $9.99/month plan which includes ad-supported music along with 15 hours of monthly audiobook listening.
This strategic pricing adjustment by Spotify aims to cater more precisely to user preferences, allowing them to choose a plan that best fits their streaming needs and budget without compromising on quality or content availability.
