Celebrating Culture and Tradition in Ayios Theodoros
As August approaches, the village of Ayios Theodoros in Larnaca is preparing to add a traditional festival to the summer’s vibrant agenda. This event celebrates arts, culture, and local life with a three-day extravaganza filled with music, food, and cultural heritage.
A Three-Day Celebration of Arts and Culture
Taking place from August 2 to August 4, the festival invites locals, visitors, and tourists to immerse themselves in a rich program featuring artistic performances, music, theater, dance, and local Cypriot produce. Now in its 10th edition, the festival has gained a reputation for its vibrant atmosphere and impressive lineup, including a notable guest from the Greek music scene.
Day One: Traditional Dances and Cypriot Pasta Demonstrations
The festivities kick off on August 2 with traditional dance performances and live music by Vasiliki Hadjiadamou. Visitors can also enjoy Cypriot pasta demonstrations by Chryso Lefou, along with workshops and tastings scattered throughout the village. The first day’s events are free of charge, offering an accessible introduction to the festival’s activities.
Day Two: Concert by Giannis Ploutarchos
The highlight of the festival is set for the second evening, featuring a concert by renowned Greek singer Giannis Ploutarchos, accompanied by his daughter Katerina. The concert will begin at 9 pm, with presale tickets priced at €25 and door tickets at €30. This highly anticipated performance promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees.
Day Three: Cypriot Comedy Performance
On the final day, August 4, the festival will close with a Cypriot comedy play titled Ta Pezounia tis Paraskevoukas. This performance will take place at the village’s open-air theater at 7:45 pm, with a nominal entry fee of just €3, ensuring an evening filled with laughter and enjoyment.
