Scheduled for June 21, The Tale of the Lute will unite three virtuoso musicians with diverse backgrounds. This performance aims to narrate the extensive history of the lute, an influential instrument spanning cultures from Mesopotamia to Al-Andalus. The evening will blend ancient compositions from European Medieval traditions, Persian, Greek, Turkish, and Arabic music, alongside original compositions by the musicians themselves. Efrén López will showcase his mastery on oud, rabab, and guittern, Yasamin Shahhosseini will contribute with her skill on oud, and Ruven Ruppik will handle percussion duties.
Preserving Tradition: Memories of the People of Cyprus
Following on June 28, the Memories of the People of Cyprus performance by the Limassol Folklore Society promises to be a testament to the island’s vibrant cultural heritage. Three generations of traditional music performers and dancers will come together to celebrate Cyprus’ folklore, deeply rooted in the island’s history and community life.
European Harmony: European Winds Concert
Launching into July on the 2nd, the festival presents European Winds, a collaborative concert featuring music professors and students from six European universities in Greece, Italy, and Portugal. They will perform alongside the Strovolos Municipality – European University of Cyprus Symphony Band. This unique performance will debut several compositions for soloists and large wind ensembles, offering a fresh musical experience to Cyprus audiences.
