A New Art Exhibition in Limassol
This week, Limassol plays host to an extraordinary artistic collaboration that delves into the volatile and transformative essence of modern life. The exhibition, titled “Fury Tails,” brings together the works of five remarkable artists who, through a shared act of introspection, create a collective narrative that reflects the unpredictable rhythms of our time.
The Concept Behind Fury Tails
Drawing inspiration from the Surrealist technique known as Exquisite Corpse, the exhibition showcases fragments of ideas and imagery exchanged between the artists. These seemingly disparate pieces merge seamlessly—tail by tail—into a cohesive story, inviting viewers to uncover its deeper meanings.
According to the organizers, the title “Fury Tails” is a playful twist on the term “fairy tales,” replacing it with a more intense and disruptive counterpart. This substitution reflects the fragmented and chaotic psycho-emotional state of the contemporary world. The organizers explain, “The title encapsulates how traditional storytelling structures disintegrate, giving way to fleeting and contingent narratives.” Citing contemporary philosopher Byung-Chul Han, they describe this shift as “storyselling,” a phenomenon that leaves us navigating a turbulent sea of unpredictability and consequence.

The exhibition’s opening night will take place on Friday, December 20, with Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis in attendance. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience this compelling collection at the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki.
