International Short Film Festival in Limassol
The 14th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus kicks off on Saturday in Limassol, where short films will be screened at Rialto Theatre throughout the week. Alongside the screenings, there will be other events such as workshops and additional film viewings in the area.
Inspirational Talks in Nicosia
Nicosia has a few standout events this weekend. On Saturday, the highly anticipated TEDxEleftheriaSquare will take place, featuring 10 inspiring speakers sharing their thoughts on topics like literature, AI, education, street art, sustainability, dance, and herbalism. The event’s theme is Symphony of Minds and will delve into a variety of thought-provoking ideas.
Art Exhibition in the Buffer Zone
A unique, international art exhibition is taking place within the Ledra Street checkpoint. The event, titled Imagining Home Between the Walls, is organized by the cultural group D6:EU, led by Argyro Toumazou and Clymene Christoforou. This exhibition explores themes of identity, home, and the reimagining of houses, 50 years after the invasion and 60 years after the formation of Unficyp. The artworks from Efi Savvides, Sümer Erek, Julie Gauthron, Nafia Akdeniz, and Anaïs Llobet will be on display until October 31 between the Ledra and Lokmaci checkpoints.
Beer Festival in Nicosia
For beer enthusiasts, the Hoppy October Street Fest is happening on Saturday and Sunday. Hosted by Moondog’s Bar & Grill and Rabbithop.cy, the event will offer over 250 different beers to sample at the parking lot opposite Moondog’s. You can enjoy local and international beers for just €3. The event will also include live music from Windcraft Band, Symbiosis, and DJ Bkas, plus games, contests, and performances by Fuse band.
Meraki Fair in Larnaca
In Larnaca, the Meraki Fair will take place at Zouhouri Square on Saturday. Running from 12pm to 8pm, the fair will showcase handmade crafts, fashion, accessories, street food, and activities for all ages. DJ Fantis will provide the musical backdrop alongside live performances, a fashion show, and a kids’ corner.
Latin Beats in Paphos
Adding a Latin twist to the weekend, Technopolis 20 in Paphos will host Yemaya Son, a local Cuban band, on Saturday night. Four talented musicians will perform a lively mix of salsa, son, rumba, and afro-Cuban rhythms for an unforgettable evening of dance and music.
