Music lovers in Cyprus have more reasons to celebrate this summer. Not only are local music festivals back in full swing, but international stars are also adding Cyprus to their summer tour itineraries. Among them is a unique all-female trio from the Caucasus making their debut on the island.

Trio Mandili’s Journey to Fame

This summer, Trio Mandili, composed of three young artists from Georgia, will travel to Cyprus for a one-of-a-kind concert. Tatuli Mgeladze, Tako Tsiklauri, and Mariam Kurasbediani form the trio, which gained internet fame almost overnight. Their journey began when they recorded a selfie video of themselves singing during a walk in their village. The video quickly went viral on YouTube, garnering millions of views in just a few days. Today, they are known for their walking music videos and perform at traditional music festivals worldwide.

A Unique Musical Experience

Trio Mandili performs polyphonic songs accompanied by traditional Georgian string instruments. They have amassed nearly 349K followers on social media and 1,550,000 subscribers on YouTube, and have appeared on numerous TV and radio shows. Their music is characterized by traditional Georgian elements and rhythms, and even their name, “Mandili,” is derived from the traditional Georgian handkerchief that symbolizes peace.

Concert Details

Following their concerts in Romania, Trio Mandili will perform in Cyprus on September 20 at the Municipal Theatre of Pano Polemidia in Limassol. This performance will take place just before they head to Athens for another concert. The event promises to be an evening filled with the unique and harmonious sounds of Georgian polyphonic music.
